Marshall House Update

The Marshall House is LIVE!

Renovation is complete and it will soon be on the market.  Peruse our latest House Flipper Gazette for pictures and updates.

Chip and Joanna Gaines

If you ever have to wonder just how popular the art of flipping a downtrodden home is, you need look no further than Chip and Joanna Gaines.  This dynamic duo of a couple has set the flipping world on fire and has put Waco, Texas on a much larger and popular map.  They have built an empire out of hard work and their tremendous and unflinching faith in the good Lord above.

While this couple takes a very serious view of their projects and the people involved, they do so with a little wisp of humor as well.  Chip is the family comedian while Joanna is the serious, more grounded of the two but it works and they have amassed an amazing following, both for the show and for products they design and endorse.

This month, they are the cover subject of our very own Texas Monthly magazine.  This excellent piece, written by Taffy Brodesser-Akner for the October, 2016 issue, goes behind the scenes and allows us all a view into their world.  Of course, they are so open anyway, that we already feel they are just good friends to us all.  Here is a link to the article, but consider picking up a copy of Texas Monthly before this issue disappears! 2 Flipping Gals Newsletter

We want to introduce you to our inaugural newsletter, the House Flipper Gazette.  Through this newsletter, we hope to create a community of people with a shared interest in buying, renovating, and selling a property.  But, it is more than that.  It is a common bond in interests of historical, architectural, and human interest that will draw us together as well.  Click on the link to the right under House Flippers Gazette and peruse Newsletter #1. Welcome to 2 Flipping Gals

Grab a cup of tea, sit down, and let's talk flipping!  What is flipping you ask?  Well, let us enlighten you!

Flipping a home is a process which can run the gamut of definitions.  During the economic downturn in the early 1980's, homes were purchased for a pittance by savvy investors who saw the potential of often great income through this venture.  Unfortunately, many just bought them and rented out homes that were often begging for a facelift.

With the onset of cable television came a new form of flipping homes.  Shows suddenly appeared on HGTV, such as "Design on a Dime", "Curb Appeal", and "Income Properties", which led to an entire new industry where a derelict home would now find new life!

To further this industry, the megastars of home flipping, Tarek and Christin El Moussa (Flip or Flop) and Chip and Joanna Gaines (Fixer Upper) hit the scene.  Now, flipping a home was more than just an investment.  It was a life calling.  These homes were now art palettes and flippers became the master artists.

We truly feel that we are just such artists. Flipping a home, for us, is a passion and very emotional.  We see the story behind the home.  We have a sense of those who once inhabited its rooms.  There is no such thing as rushing through the project as we lovingly explore every nook and cranny.  The main goal in flipping an older home is to maintain this integrity and this history that embodies the home.  Our belief is that every home can be saved and loved again by new families for generations to come!
